When to Visit Sumatra
Sumatra offers encounters with critically endangered orangutans, Sumatran tigers, and rhinos in dense tropical rainforest. The driest months from April to October provide the best trekking conditions in Gunung Leuser National Park. The wet season brings heavy rain and leeches but also fruiting trees that attract orangutans closer to feeding areas.

🎯 Our Recommendation
June to August is ideal for orangutan trekking in Bukit Lawang. Dry trails, comfortable temperatures, and fruiting trees attract orangutans to lower elevations. Combine with Lake Toba and Kerinci Seblat for a chance at Sumatran tiger tracks.
