Editorial, Research, and Corrections Policy

WhereAnimalsLive aims to turn wildlife interest into informed, responsible decisions. Search visibility is an outcome of useful work—not a substitute for sourcing, judgement, or care for animals and travellers.

What “source reviewed” means

A source-reviewed guide has been checked against at least two relevant non-commercial or first-party sources, carries a real review date, links readers to the most important source material, and separates stable context from details that can change. Relevant sources may include protected-area authorities, government travel or health bodies, recognised conservation organisations, scientific assessments, official venue pages, and operator terms for the exact product being discussed.

A page does not become source reviewed because its spelling, layout, metadata, or publication date changed. Legacy articles that have not passed this process remain available for transparency and research but are marked as pending and excluded from search indexes and XML sitemaps.

Information that needs extra care

  • Prices, permits, schedules, and access: presented as dated context and linked to the official place to confirm them.
  • Health, safety, visas, and insurance: general planning context only; current professional and government advice takes priority.
  • Species status and range: checked at species level and stripped of sensitive den, nest, roost, or trafficking information.
  • Zoos and sanctuaries: described independently from current official visitor and conservation material; a listing is not accreditation or endorsement.
  • Conservation support: programme terms, recipient organisation, restrictions, renewal, cancellation, tax language, and symbolic-adoption meaning are checked without claiming that one option is universally “best.”

Original value and worldwide coverage

New work must add a useful decision, comparison, planning framework, local access explanation, or conservation connection that is not already answered by another WhereAnimalsLive page. We do not publish city or location pages merely to repeat an animal list. Worldwide expansion is prioritised where credible official sources, visitor value, and meaningful links to the existing species–place–experience graph all exist.

Automation and AI-assisted work

Software is used for crawl checks, broken-link detection, duplicate-intent analysis, structured-data validation, Search Console analysis, and editorial inventory management. AI-assisted tools may help organise research, suggest structure, or produce a draft for review. They do not establish truth, first-hand experience, expertise, or publication readiness. Automatically drafted work must enter a review branch, pass safety and source gates, and receive human editorial approval before it can become search eligible.

Authorship, experience, and images

Organisation bylines identify work maintained by the WhereAnimalsLive editorial team; they do not imply that every destination, product, or encounter was personally visited or tested. First-hand claims require a named contributor and evidence of that experience. Images should be relevant and properly licensed; illustrative or AI-generated media must not be presented as documentary proof of a species, place, or encounter.

Affiliates and commercial independence

Some outbound links may earn a commission. Affiliate eligibility does not determine conservation listings, source conclusions, safety guidance, or whether a page is published. Sponsored links are labelled for search engines, commercial relationships are disclosed near the decision, and readers are encouraged to verify the final provider, itinerary, price, wildlife policy, accessibility, and cancellation terms.

Corrections and review requests

If you find an error, a changed rule, a broken official source, a welfare concern, or sensitive location information, use the contact page. Please include the URL, the specific claim, and a primary source where possible. Material safety, welfare, legal, conservation, and payment errors receive priority; confirmed corrections should update the visible review date only when the page itself was substantively checked.
