Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Delhi — Transfer to Ranthambore
Arrive at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. Take the morning Shatabdi Express train to Sawai Madhopur (5 hours), the gateway town for Ranthambore National Park.

The Shatabdi Express is comfortable and scenic. Book AC Chair Car class for a smooth journey through Rajasthan's countryside.
Day 2: Ranthambore — Morning & Afternoon Safaris
Two game drives in Ranthambore National Park. Morning and afternoon safaris cover different zones, each with resident tiger territories among the park's atmospheric Mughal ruins.
Activities
- Sunrise jeep safari (Zone 1-5 allocation)
- Search for famous tigers like Machli's descendants
- Afternoon canter safari to Ranthambore Fort area
- Spot sambar deer, nilgai, and marsh crocodiles
Ranthambore's zones are allocated by lottery. Zones 1-5 have the best tiger density — request these at booking time.
Day 3: Ranthambore — Second Day of Safaris
Another two safari drives in different zones to maximise your chances. Ranthambore's tigers are famously relaxed around vehicles, making for incredible photography.
Activities
- Morning jeep safari in a new zone
- Visit Ranthambore Fort (UNESCO) between drives
- Afternoon jeep safari
- Look for leopards in the rocky hillsides
Listen for alarm calls from langurs and sambar deer — they're your best clue that a tiger is nearby.
Day 4: Ranthambore to Bandhavgarh
Transfer to Sawai Madhopur station and take the train to Umaria (gateway to Bandhavgarh). The landscape shifts from Rajasthan desert to the lush sal forests of Madhya Pradesh.
Activities
- Morning train to Umaria (6-7 hours)
- Transfer to lodge near Bandhavgarh
- Evening village walk or nature walk around lodge
- Briefing on Bandhavgarh's tiger families
Bandhavgarh has the highest tiger density per square km of any reserve in India — your chances are excellent.
Day 5: Bandhavgarh — Full Day of Tiger Tracking
Morning and afternoon jeep safaris in Bandhavgarh National Park. The Tala Zone is famous for bold tigers that walk along the main track, sometimes approaching vehicles.
Activities
- Sunrise jeep safari in Tala Zone
- Track tigers using pugmarks and alarm calls
- Afternoon safari in Magdhi Zone
- Spot sloth bears, wild dogs, and Indian bison (gaur)
Bandhavgarh's tigers are incredibly habituated — it's common for a tiger to walk right past your jeep. Keep cameras ready.
Day 6: Bandhavgarh — Final Safari & Departure
One last sunrise safari for a final chance at tiger sightings, then transfer to Jabalpur airport (4 hours) for your flight back to Delhi.

- Drive to Jabalpur airport (4 hours)
- Flight to Delhi for onward connections
If time allows, visit the marble rocks at Bhedaghat near Jabalpur — a stunning natural wonder on the Narmada River.
