When to Visit Hwange National Park
Hwange is Zimbabwe's largest national park, famed for massive elephant herds and painted wolf (wild dog) populations. The dry season from June to October draws huge numbers of elephants to pumped waterholes, creating unforgettable spectacles. The green season from November to April brings migratory birds and fewer visitors but roads can be challenging.

Dry season temperatures range from 15 to 32 degrees Celsius. Summer is hot at 30 to 40 degrees with heavy afternoon rains.
November to April (wet season) brings lower rates, lush scenery, and fewer tourists. Travelling during shoulder or low seasons can save you 20 to 40% on accommodation and tours while still providing excellent wildlife viewing.
Peak season at Hwange National Park is August to October when wildlife is most concentrated. Book accommodation and tours well in advance for peak dates, as popular lodges and camps sell out months ahead.
