Best Time to Visit Ningaloo Reef FAQ
The best time to visit Ningaloo Reef is March to July for whale sharks, extending to October for humpback whales. Manta rays can be seen year-round, and turtle nesting occurs from November to March.
Temperatures range from 22 to 38 degrees Celsius depending on season. The dry season from April to October is most comfortable. Avoid December to February when it exceeds 40 degrees.
March (early season) and late July offer slightly lower demand and prices. Travelling during shoulder or low seasons can save you 20 to 40% on accommodation and tours while still providing excellent wildlife viewing.
Peak season at Ningaloo Reef is April to June during peak whale shark season. Book accommodation and tours well in advance for peak dates, as popular lodges and camps sell out months ahead.
