Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport on the shores of Lake Victoria. Transfer to your lakeside hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening.

Entebbe Botanical Gardens sits right on Lake Victoria and was a filming location for the original Tarzan movies.
Day 2: Entebbe to Kibale Forest
Drive west through the lush Ugandan countryside to Fort Portal and Kibale Forest National Park, home to the highest density of primates in Africa.

- Scenic drive to Fort Portal (5-6 hours)
- Pass through tea plantations and crater lakes
- Evening nature walk around the lodge
The drive passes stunning crater lakes near Fort Portal β stop at Amabere Caves for a short nature walk.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale
Early morning chimpanzee tracking through the tropical rainforest of Kibale. Your group will follow a habituated chimp community, watching them feed, groom, and interact.

- Morning chimpanzee tracking (6:00am start)
- Spot red colobus monkeys, L'Hoest's monkeys
- Afternoon Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary walk
- Community cultural walk
Chimps are most active in the first two hours of the morning. The trek can take 1-5 hours depending on where the group is.
Day 4: Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Drive south to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda's most biodiverse reserves. Afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel for close-up hippo and elephant views.

- Drive to Queen Elizabeth NP (2-3 hours)
- Afternoon Kazinga Channel boat cruise
- Spot hippos, elephants, crocodiles, and buffalo from the boat
The Kazinga Channel cruise is one of the best wildlife boat trips in Africa β sit on the upper deck for photography.
Day 5: Queen Elizabeth NP β Ishasha Sector
Drive to the remote Ishasha sector in the south, famous for its tree-climbing lions that drape themselves in fig trees. An afternoon game drive explores this special corner of the park.

- Drive to Ishasha sector (2-3 hours)
- Search for tree-climbing lions in fig trees
- Afternoon game drive along the Ishasha River
- Spot Uganda kob and topi antelope
Scan every large fig tree carefully β the lions blend in perfectly with the branches. Your guide knows their favourite trees.
Day 6: Ishasha to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Drive through the dramatic landscapes of southwestern Uganda to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Check in and attend the gorilla trekking briefing for tomorrow.

- Scenic drive to Bwindi (4-5 hours)
- Pass through the Kigezi Highlands ("Switzerland of Africa")
- Gorilla trekking briefing at park HQ
- Rest and prepare for tomorrow's trek
Get a good night's sleep β gorilla trekking can be physically demanding. Pack your daypack the night before.
Day 7: Mountain Gorilla Trekking
The moment you've been waiting for. Trek into the dense bamboo and montane forest of Bwindi to spend one hour with a habituated gorilla family. A life-changing experience.
Activities
- 7:00am briefing at park headquarters
- Trek through dense forest to find gorilla family (1-6 hours)
- Spend one magical hour with the gorillas
- Return to lodge for celebration dinner
Hire a porter ($15) β they carry your bag, support you on steep sections, and it directly supports the local community.
Day 8: Second Gorilla Trek or Batwa Trail
Optional second gorilla trekking permit (if booked) or take the Batwa Trail β a cultural experience with the indigenous Batwa pygmy people who once lived in the forest.

- Option B: Batwa Trail cultural experience
- Afternoon community walk through Bwindi villages
- Evening nature walk
A second trek needs a separate eligible permit. Confirm the current UWA price, availability, payment route, and cancellation terms before adding it.
Day 9: Bwindi to Lake Bunyonyi
Drive to the stunning Lake Bunyonyi, one of Africa's deepest and most beautiful lakes. Relax, canoe, or visit the 29 islands by traditional dugout canoe.

- Drive to Lake Bunyonyi (2-3 hours)
- Dugout canoe ride to Punishment Island
- Swimming and relaxation at the lake
- Community island visit
Lake Bunyonyi is bilharzia-free, so you can swim safely β a rare treat in tropical Africa.
Day 10: Lake Bunyonyi to Entebbe & Departure
Fly from the nearby Kisoro airstrip to Entebbe (or drive 8-9 hours). Connect with your international departure flight.

- Transfer to Kisoro airstrip for flight to Entebbe
- Connect with international departure flight
